The Properties Coordinator works under the supervision of the Production Manager of the Aspen Opera Theater & VocalARTS (AOTVA) program at the Aspen Music Festival & School (AMFS). The AOTVA program is under the co-artistic direction of Renée Fleming and Patrick Summers. The upcoming season will utilize the AMFS orchestras, the 2,050 seat Klein Music Tent, and Historic Wheeler Opera House throughout an encompassing 8-week summer season. Cosi Fan Tutte
and Puccini’s
La Boheme . This role manages, procures, builds, and oversees props for the summer season consisting of these opera productions, weekly public opera theater classes, and other shows as assigned. Responsibilities Procure or create all hand props and furniture for opera productions. Maintain and organize the current props inventory. Pull stock items for weekly presentation needs. Other responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, renting, and returning pieces as well as participation in pre-production meetings. Requirements Currently pursuing or graduated with a BA/BFA in Technical Theater with a concentration in props or scenic design or equivalent professional experience. Candidates should be able to speak comfortably with guest designers and resident directors, with a strong knowledge of periods and design styles. Candidates must have sensitivity to the needs of student performers and staff and a proven ability to work well with others. Candidates must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and materials of greater weights in tandem with additional crew member assistance and be comfortable and confident climbing stairs and ladders. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license. Access to a vehicle is preferable for the duration of the summer but not required. A DMV check will be conducted for the candidate hired. Dates June 10, 2025 - August 26, 2025 Compensation $17.75/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $4.91/hour depending on location). Overtime $26.63/hour. Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
