This is permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) position with State Benefits stationed in Morehead City, N.C. This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. This is a grant-funded position under the Department of Environmental Education and Public Affairs that serves as the Outreach and Education Coordinator for the Division of Marine Fisheries. Key Responsibilities: Develops goals for Division public education and outreach Develops workplans and compliance reports for funding source grants Identifies targeted audiences and develops instructional strategies, plans program activities for these audiences, and prepares and distributes program materials Coordinates and facilitates workshops, clinics and other outreach events; staffs and coordinates other staff for educational programs and exhibits Manages the Division's social media accounts, coordinates and edits content for social media posts, responds to online public inquiries, and other related duties The Division of Marine Fisheries: The North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) is responsible for the stewardship of the state's marine and estuarine resources. The DMF's jurisdiction encompasses all coastal waters and extends to 3 miles offshore. Agency policies are established by the nine-member Marine Fisheries Commission and the Secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality. North Carolina is a member of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council and the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council. The Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs: The Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs is responsible for supporting the department's initiatives and objectives through communications, outreach, and dissemination of information to the public. Public Affairs coordinates the department's communications, public information and outreach efforts through interaction with residents and the news media, publication production, special events and public information programs and initiatives, and serves in an advisory position to the Secretary and senior management regarding a broad array of internal and external communications issues.
