Job Summary The Student Care area of Student Affairs is a dynamic, student-centered environment serving the entire student body of the university. The Graduate Assistant for Student Care & Support works with the Care team to provide support, education, and outreach to the campus community. The Graduate Assistant for Student Care & Support provides an environment of holistic student support by engaging in preventative outreach measures to support students experiencing challenges impacting their academic and personal experience at the university. Preventative outreach measures include providing campus and community connection resources, student belonging programming, student emergency assistance, and student food & housing insecurity critical need interventions. Responsibilities Under the supervision of a professional staff member, provide one-on-one and group support for students experiencing challenges impacting their personal, social, and academic experience at the university. Respond to alerts or referrals from faculty or staff regarding students of concern. Track, document, and access student emergency assistance requests and interventions. Develop faculty and staff training resources and on-demand training modules. Expand the Laker Care & Share program by researching and implementing best practices. Serve as point of contact for Laker Care Pantry student volunteers. Conduct weekly visits to Laker Care Pantry to evaluate services, inventory, and usage. Collaborate with professional staff to implement belonging programming. Assist with the Student Care Center student intake process. Conduct informational meetings, workshops, and tabling for departmental outreach. Other special projects as assigned. Required Qualifications Earned a bachelor's degree Must possess excellent written and verbal skills Proposed Salary The Student Care & Support Graduate Assistant is responsible for working up to 19 hours each week. Although hours are typically Monday through Thursday during regular business hours, some later evenings and weeks may be required each semester. Tuition waiver $1,000 one-time stipend Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities An ideal candidate for this position will possess the following: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills Display strong organizational skills and manage multiple tasks Maintain confidentiality of office visitors Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs Ability to present on various topics in front of various groups, including student organizations, potential students, faculty, and departmental staff. Able to build positive rapport with students, administrators, faculty, and staff employees.
