The University of Memphis (UofM) invites inquiries and nominations for the position of Vice President for Enrollment Management. Located in a quiet metropolitan residential neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, the UofM is a top-tier R1 research university. Founded in 1912, the UofM welcomes over 21,000 students every year across two primary campuses – Central Campus and UofM Lambuth – and through its extension campus and UofM Global. Students and faculty come from all over the world to be a part of the UofM experience, which is a strength and a point of pride. The campus boasts 25 Chairs of Excellence and five state-approved Centers of Excellence. The UofM is inextricably linked to the city in which it resides. Memphis is an endlessly captivating city that has world-class museums; natural beauty and wonder; major events and festivals; and nationally recognized music, arts, and food scenes. It’s one of America’s great southern cities overflowing with warm hospitality and rich in history, culture, and attractions — a perfect urban university setting. Following recent institutional records in overall fundraising, academics, athletics, and endowments, this is a time of tremendous momentum and opportunity for the UofM community. This spirit will be reflected in enrollment management as the Vice President will facilitate the development and implementation of the University’s strategic enrollment management plan and promote institution-wide recruitment, retention, and completion of initiatives. The Vice President will report to Dr. David J. Russomanno, who began his tenure as Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost on July 1, 2023. With responsibility for undergraduate admissions, financial aid, and the registrar, the Vice President will bring creativity, innovation, and a strategic mindset to all areas of enrollment management in order to help fulfill the UofM’s aspirations as outlined in the University of Memphis Strategic Plan Ascend – 2023-28. Critical to this effort, the Vice President for Enrollment Management will collaborate with faculty, staff, administration, student organizations, and community groups to support transparency and information sharing, and the Vice President will ensure that all students have access to all pertinent information and resources in the enrollment process. The new leader will build synergies and collaborative partnerships across the institution to utilize innovative technologies and data-informed strategies and to ensure a return on investment in achieving enrollment and financial goals. The Vice President will embed a commitment to inclusion and access in all areas of enrollment management — both for the team in the division and the students they serve. A commitment to understanding the city of Memphis and its relationship to the University will be essential. The successful candidate will possess great analytical and technological depth with enrollment management systems, vendors, and customer relationship software; the ability to improve upon every metric in the enrollment inputs; a commitment to the UofM students and their welfare; and a proven capacity for pairing enrollment priorities with institutional values and aspirations. The new Vice President will also be a strong collaborator with superior interpersonal communication skills and an ability to garner the trust and confidence of senior leaders, faculty, campus constituents, and division staff.
