The director of online learning is instrumental in expanding and enhancing the college’s distance education programs and courses, shaping the future of online and hybrid learning at a small Catholic and Dominican liberal arts institution. The director collaborates with deans, department chairs, program directors, faculty, and key educational support units to develop innovative, high-quality, sustainable, and mission-aligned online graduate and non-credit programs, while maintaining rigorous academic standards and regulatory compliance. Similarly, the director will be expected to assist and guide academic departments/programs in their efforts to offer online courses, primarily during summer and winter sessions, for our full-time day student population. The role involves strategic planning, market research, and the implementation of best practices to ensure optimal teaching and learning environments. The director drives growth, fosters student engagement, and supports the institution’s goal of offering accessible and impactful online education. Responsibilities

Collaborate with academic leaders on the creation and expansion of online and hybrid programs, including the development of innovative learning experiences that align with institutional goals and market needs. (20%) Ensure that online courses and programs meet quality assurance metrics, accreditation standards, and national regulatory requirements. (20%) Work with deans and program directors to integrate online learning into the broader academic framework and support faculty in online course development. (15%) Partner with Graduate Admissions, as well as schools, to perform research and identify emerging trends, needs, and opportunities in the competitive online education market to inform graduate and non-credit program development. (15%) Develop and implement strategies to foster student engagement and enhance the online learning experience, ensuring accessibility and support for diverse learners. (15%) Serve as a visible leader on campus, representing the online learning office to both internal and external stakeholders, and actively participate in the strategic vision and growth of the institution’s online education portfolio. (15%) Marginal Duties

Perform all other duties as may be required. Education and Experience Required

Master’s degree in education, instructional technology, computer science, or a related field from an accredited institution required. Five to seven years’ proven leadership and management skills in higher ed administration with experience developing and implementing online and hybrid programs as well as significant relevant operational and managerial experience. Proficiency with LMS (particularly Canvas), Microsoft Office suite, analytical tools, and educational technologies that promote engaged learning. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of individuals and constituencies. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong commitment to innovation and academic and service excellence in online education. Knowledge of best practices in online/distance education, including educational technologies, student support services, and professional standards and trends. Experience in marketing, recruitment, and enrollment of students in online/hybrid programs. Prior supervisory and budgetary experience. Familiarity with data analytics and assessment tools. Employee Status: Full Time Salary Information

Salary: $115,000 - $120,000 Benefits
