The Executive Director, Strategic Options and Assessment is responsible for scoping and ensuring delivery of insight and analysis to support the development of early and late assets, tumor, and portfolio strategies. The role requires independent and strategic thinking partnership with the Development Team Leaders and other business partners to ensure pipeline asset decisions best position BMS for maximum return on investment and positive patient outcomes. The role is also responsible for fostering external relationships with data suppliers to enhance BMS ability to support strategic portfolio choices and plays a critical role in ensuring decision-making maintains agreed upon asset value. Drives engagement and collaboration with Global Biostatistics. RESPONSIBILITIES Sets vision and expectations for the team, influences decision making within most senior executives in drug development. Formulate/articulate an asset, tumor, and portfolio analysis strategy to meet business objectives and maximize return on investment. Track pipeline performance against expectations, identify areas for potential intervention, and assist with the strategy for pipeline spend and trade-offs associated with this spend. Enable analytical input and substrate to enterprise processes such as strategic planning, R&D budgeting, and long-term financial planning. Provide analytics substrate to support governance decision making such as operations committee, CDOC, and REDOC. Support fast and efficient decision-making by leading integration of data and subjective assessments from across the enterprise to characterize the value of decision alternatives. Provide external market research, competitive intelligence, and pipeline analytics knowledge based on deep disease area expertise. Continuously improve decision analysis offerings of Asset Strategy teams based on advanced analytics. Partner with other data teams on analytic solutions that address business questions related to pipeline strategy. Engage and build relationships and effectively partner with stakeholders across the company including other BI&A R&D groups (e.g., Real World Data, Resource Management, and Asset Strategy), senior management across BI&A (including Data Capabilities Group), and BMS EIM. Work with other data teams to bring integrated analytics to stakeholders to address business questions related to pipeline strategy and design, providing thought provocation and alternative perspectives through the application of advanced analytics, forecasting, and reporting techniques. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE BA/BS required; Masters in Decision Science or Biostatistics /PhD preferred. 10 years of tumor and asset portfolio strategy & management experience. Deep knowledge and expertise in data science fields. Strategic mindset. Superb oral and written communication skills and presence within executive leaders. Vision, leadership, comfortable with ambiguity, ability to drive change and influence decisions across multiple stakeholders. Willingness to learn, apply & test frameworks/models within a tumor and asset portfolio business context. Knowledge of global pharmaceutical industry and healthcare marketplace. Ability to understand & apply standard economic principles to decision making. Ability to re-frame analytic findings in a digestible and business/senior-executive-friendly format. Strong interpersonal skills & ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines & structures. MS Office skills required. Familiar with analytic tools such as SAS, Access, Spotfire, Tableau, SQL preferred; can learn new tools quickly.
