By joining our Department of Highways, District 7, as a Transportation Engineer Supervisor in Scott County, you will have the opportunity to oversee the activities of professional and technical personnel in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of highways, structures, or facilities.
Holders of the Transportation Engineer Supervisor position will complete tasks such as: Plans, assigns, and supervises work on the section’s office staff in order to meet the objectives of the construction inspection, routine maintenance, and other engineering programs. Reviews and analyzes data to plan and design or coordinate the planning and design of transportation facilities in accordance with department and federal policies, procedures, and standards. Interprets project plans and contract documents for property owners, local officials, contractors, consultants, materials suppliers, and property owners. Confers with contractors, materials suppliers, consultants, local officials, departmental engineers, county maintenance, and special operations crews on technical and operational problems. Holders of this job will obtain the following skills: Ability to perform direct line supervision of the activities of an engineering program. Ability to interpret and draft professional and technical papers and reports. Ability to determine ways and means for proper expenditure of funds for various transportation programs. Ability to review and analyze transportation plan data. Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position: Must be a licensed professional engineer by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure. Must have two years of engineering experience. A master's in engineering will substitute for 1 year of the required experience. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:

Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six-month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. The employing agency is responsible for ensuring the employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
