Camp Ramah New England, which operates three coed summer camps (one overnight and two day camps) that enroll over 1,500 youth (headquartered in Norwood, MA) is hiring a senior level, full-time year-round position to oversee its financial operations. This position arises from the Camp’s tremendous growth over recent years. The Camp has a budget of $10+ million and offers a dynamic experience for Jewish youth/young adults each year. Our overnight camp is located in Palmer MA and our day camps are located in Waltham MA and Germantown MD. The Director of Finance will join a team of 20 other highly motivated year-round professionals. Camp Ramah New England prides itself on being innovative and inclusive, offering programs and services for children and young adults across our camps. We recently introduced Camp Sasson, weekend experiences for children who have experienced the loss of a parent or who are in treatment for cancer. The position requires a combination of strong interpersonal and organizational skills, in addition to great customer service instincts. The Director will lead day-to-day financial operations, which include accounting, accounts payable & receivable, organizational budgeting and reporting, cash and debt management, and longer-term budgeting and capital management. Requirements include an Accounting Degree (CPA preferred), experience with QuickBooks, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, competency working with database systems, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience managing reporting, budget development, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and accounting is essential. Impeccable attention to detail and commitment to establishing and adhering to rigorous internal controls are required. Experience with not-for-profit accounting is preferred. The location of the job is Norwood MA (a Boston suburb) with the option to work from our overnight camp in Palmer MA for all or part of the summer camp season. A hybrid schedule during the off-season (September to June) is an option. Supervise the Finance Associate responsible for data entry, deposits and payments, and the scholarship process. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue (tuition, fundraising, and program) expenses, and program budgets expenditures. Monitor and direct construction financing, revenue, and expenses. Lead month-end close process, including journal entries and revenue recognition. Ensure accuracy and effectiveness of donor tracking and communication systems in partnership with Development professionals. Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner. Clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Monitor financial progress vs. Budget and keep Senior Leadership and the Finance Committee abreast of the organization’s financial status. Interaction with Board of Directors, updates and presentations at Board meetings. Oversee the annual budgeting and planning process with Senior Leadership and the Finance Committee. Manage and review all financial plans and compare actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate. Support the CEO and COO in engaging the Board of Directors and Finance Committee around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery. Risk management and insurance oversight. Manage/oversee debt compliance and covenants. Manage cash flow and oversee investments of assets. Monitor and manage bank relationships. Prepare internal financial statement package and manage the annual financial audit and 990 return process by the outside audit firm. Salary range starts at $125,000/year, commensurate with experience. Generous PTO.
