Position Objective The Data Specialist plays a critical role in managing data in District systems. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of District data systems, generating reports, and performance tuning of Student Information System and production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. The Data Specialist collaborates with various stakeholders to streamline data collection processes, maintain compliance with state and federal reporting requirements, and support the District's strategic goals.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE:
Degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Knowledge of SQL and experience in developing and maintaining applications that use Microsoft SQL Server databases. Strong understanding of standard relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices. Proficiency in using Infinite Campus, including database maintenance, reporting tools, and user support functions. Strong understanding of database structures, data integrity principles, and SIS workflows. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and other data analysis tools; experience with reporting platforms such as Tableau. Familiarity with state and federal reporting requirements as they pertain to student information systems. Basic understanding of scripting or query languages (e.g., SQL) is preferred. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a focus on data integrity and quality assurance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to set work priorities, multi-task and work independently, and use time management and organization strategies well. Presents a professional image and interacts professionally with faculty, staff, students and community
