General Description of Position: The Technical Service Supervisor is responsible for planning, directing, or coordinating activities for the Protection & Control and Substation design team, as it may relate to preparing drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the associate or senior engineer. The role is responsible for the performance of resources used in supporting projects and producing timely and accurate drawing packages for complex power delivery proposals or bids. This will include plan view and elevations, single-line and three-line diagrams, electrical interconnect drawings, structural/electrical details, and a detailed bill of material. Essential Functions of Position: 1. Shall have a thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in one or more of the following areas: a) Instrumentation and Control b) Protective Relaying c) Substation Design d) Civil Engineering e) CADD 2. Shall perform with minimum supervision, a variety of design related duties including, but not limited to, the following: a) Prepare manual or computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a minimum of errors. b) Perform design services requiring a full understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry and Company standards covering the assigned work. c) Take a major role in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions. d) Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations. e) Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules. f) Acquire on-site field data to accomplish the design or to monitor and evaluate equipment performance. g) Design experience with civil foundations, steel detailing, and electrical power equipment such as support structures and insulators. h) Solid understanding of design drafting practices and engineering systems utilized in the power industry. i) Ability to develop Plan View and Elevation schematics from one- and three-line diagrams. j) Demonstrated knowledge of desktop computers and Microsoft Office products. k) Demonstrated familiarity with web-based design collaboration sites and drawing management systems. l) Ability to work independently and effectively interface with a multi-discipline engineering team and project managers. m) Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills. n) Continually strives for a professional product with a quality & process mindset. o) Prior experience following quality assurance processes while working in a projects schedule-driven environment. p) Customer focused with ability to adapt to various customer standards. q) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. r) Scheduling of resources to meet internal & external client commitments. s) Constantly looking for ways to improve the efficiency of the group. t) Provide training for new and existing team members. Position Characteristics: Coordinate the work and activities of the design team resources through effective communication with ECF managers and supervisors of the team's ability to meet daily project deadlines. Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development training opportunities to design team members. Position Requirements: Associate's degree in Drafting and Design Technology, or a minimum of 10 years progressive work experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience designing electrical schematics, substation physical drawings, and creating detailed bills of material A minimum of 10 years of drafting experience using MicroStation or AutoCAD.
