LNO is seeking a RHN CAD Designer/Technical Writer Sr. in Augusta, GA. This opportunity will be responsible for creating design drawing packages, leading a team of drafters, completing assignments and miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope. You'll be responsible for utilizing accepted practices and standards to ensure that all designs meet the highest level of quality and safety.

LNO is seeking a RHN CAD Designer/Technical Writer Sr. in Augusta, GA. This opportunity will be responsible for creating design drawing packages, leading a team of drafters, completing assignments and miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope. You'll be responsible for utilizing accepted practices and standards to ensure that all designs meet the highest level of quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Edit, validate, and incorporate newly developed training and technical manual material and red-line edits to update the latest operating procedures.
- Participate in the verification of new procedures at military installations and the Prime Contractors' facility.
- Will perform a variety of technical writing, editing, and research duties in connection with the preparation of technical manuals and technical publications.
- Complete drafting assignments on Protection & Control, SCADA, Communications drawings including but not limited to Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, SCADA and Communication drawings, Control Building Layouts and Elevations, Panel Front Views and Cabinet Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Interconnection Drawings, AC/DC Station Service drawings and other miscellaneous drawings as required by project scope.
- Complete drafting assignments on Physical Electrical drawings including but not limited to General Arrangement, Electrical Plans, Electrical Elevations, Sections and Details, Foundation Plans and Details, Structural Details, Grounding Plan and Details, Raceway Plan and Details, Equipment Vendor Files and other drawings as required by project scope.
- Develop new, or modify existing:
- Engineering layout/plan of RHN equipment and structures
- Oversee the creation and foundation layout/plan drawings.
- Section/elevation views from layout/plan drawings
- Conduit layout/plan drawings
- Control building layout/plan and section/elevation drawings.
- Develop a complete bill of materials for all required electrical equipment and materials.
- Responsible for reviewing and commenting on equipment drawings received from vendors and manufacturers.
- Work with other disciplines (e.g., Civil Engineers) as necessary to complete assigned work.
- Oversee CAD project team with developing processes and procedures to increase team efficiency.
- Perform basic engineering calculations to support engineering design
- Apply relevant client, national, and state standards to each assignment as needed.
- Support office overflow CAD workload on a need and availability basis.
- Bachelors Degree with 4 or more years of directly related experience using CAD software on industry projects. Additional directly related experience can offset the degree requirements.
- Experience with technical writing and editing.
- Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Solid comprehension and application of design software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
- Advanced ability to utilize 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
- Ability to work in a team environment with others including, but not limited to, Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and drafters in multi-discipline groups.
- Strong leadership analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of drafting principles, techniques, and procedures.
- Proficiency with the manipulation of vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Ability to create and/or modify drawings from engineer-provided markups with a high level of attention to details.
- Proficiency with Windows operating system environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Strong professional verbal and written communication skills within a team environment.
- Ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced engineering/production environment.
- Responsible for overseeing the work being done by others.
- Ability to travel up to 25% (CONUS/OCONUS)
- Must be able to travel OCONUS when required
- Experience working with substation protection & control and physical drawings
- Experience with file sharing, document management and collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, FTP, SharePoint, etc.
- Ability to understand and implement a wide range of client CAD standards.
- Experience with 3-D modelling in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of VBA and/or AutoLisp.
