A Research Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Rahm Gummuluru (Supervisor: Dr. Hisashi Akiyama) in the Department of Virology, Immunology & Microbiology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. Our research program focuses on molecular virology, especially on the pathogenesis of human immunodeficiency virus type 1. The individual will participate in novel research and, when able and interested, author publications. Previous technicians have been accepted into top-tier graduate programs.
Regular tasks will include:
Cell culture
Virus stock production
Cell and virus imaging
Basic lab management and organization, including ordering and laboratory maintenance
Ensuring compliance with lab safety protocols
Research tasks will include:
Assisting others
Working independently performing a variety of cutting-edge techniques and molecular and cellular virology approaches
The ideal applicant is highly motivated with a strong commitment to excellence, great attention to detail, and works well independently and with others. Experience with techniques used in molecular biology, cell biology, and basic protein chemistry is a plus. Position available immediately.
Required Skills:
Bachelor's degree and 0-12 months of experience.
