As the Manager of a diverse and hardworking team of Combustion Device engineering team, you will set technical direction and train team members to support current and future program needs. Also support In House and Supplier activities in the design and fabrication of the Thrust Chambers Assemblies, Nozzles, Main Combustion Chambers and Nozzle Return Lines for our BE-4 Vulcan and New Glenn customers. This includes leading and promoting opportunities to realize Process Improvement and development activities in for all phases of the TCA life cycle that will support delivery of our product at rate.You will be responsible for the complete employee experience including hiring, performance management, training and providing tools for career development. You will help to improve technical processes and tool development around focused areas of engines test planning, execution, and engine development cycles as well as provide day to day direction. This role is an integral part of the Blue Origin BE-4 Program where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil and national security. In addition to people manager responsibilities, you will provide direct technical support to a program in all phases of the component life cycle. You will contribute to and lead component design, manufacturing, test support, perform data reviews and Test Readiness Reviews, support anomaly investigations and root cause analysis to drive corrective actions and hardware improvements. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise and leadership skills to positively support our efforts to build the road to space. Passion for our mission and vision is required! Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, chemical or physics desired) 8+ years of aerospace industry or related field experience Demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers in supporting a fast-paced environment in producing and delivering hardware to meet our customers needs Interest in developing high caliber engineering talent Strong technical fundamentals in mechanical design, manufacturing, the supply chain, materials processing, including welding, brazing, additive manufacturing Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Demonstrated experience with Computer aided design tools (CAD) Demonstrated experience and leading Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Proven understanding of production processes Familiarity with data analysis and data processing Demonstrated success with corrective action implementation Consistent track record leading teams through earning trust and maintaining positive, professional relationships in a way that would strengthen our culture of inclusion. Ability to travel up to 15% of the time. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: Engineering M.S., MBA or equivalent 10+ years liquid rocket engine combustion devices experience Technical fundamentals of rocket engine propulsion, fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer and/or combustion Working knowledge of combustion devices design, manufacturing, and testing Lean or six-sigmaknowledge/certifications Experience with production optimization theory and implementation. 2+ years of leadership with 8+ direct reports. Experience with leading and developing engineers into high performers. Experience with challenging the status quo, even when challenged by inertia. Experience with test data post-processing and troubleshooting. Experience with any programming language. Compensation Range for: CA applicants is $167,088.00-$233,923.20;WA applicants is $167,088.00-$233,923.20
