Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, community health care provider, governed by a community-based board of trustees. Since its founding in 1973, the original 59-bed, short-stay hospital has grown into a comprehensive acute care medical center with 226 licensed beds. We specialize in women's and children's services, surgery, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gerontology, psychiatry, emergency services and community health education. In June 1998, Howard County General Hospital joined Johns Hopkins Medicine. In June 2023, the hospital was renamed Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center.

Position Summary: The Lactation Specialist is a clinically competent health care professional, delivers lactation assessment and instruction to obstetrical inpatients and outpatients. Effectively interacts with patients and other health team members, while maintaining standards of the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants
Education/Experience:
Completion of an accredited program nursing program; BSN preferred.
Prior experience in maternal child health care and practice as breastfeeding consultant required.
Must be able to pass all hospital competencies required for the position.
Licensure/Certification:
1. Current licensure as a registered nurse by the State of Maryland. 2. Current CPR certification. 3. Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultants, (IBLC). 4. Continuing education in breastfeeding to obtain and maintain certification status.
Salary Range: Minimum 33.02 per hour - Maximum 52.68 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
