Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, us, 02298

The position is a Research Specialist in the Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology, a basic research and teaching department in the School of Medicine. The PI runs an active, well-funded research lab with undergraduate and graduate students and is involved in different collaborative projects with other members of the Department. We are seeking a full-time research specialist to join our highly collaborative and motivated research team. This Research Specialist will be a lab member that functions as research support (staff) for all members of the lab as well as conducting their own independent research projects and helping the PI with logistics of running the lab. Our goal is to understand the molecular and epigenetic mechanisms mediating brain cell abnormalities in Down Syndrome and its comorbidity with Alzheimer's disease using iPS-derived models. This is a wet laboratory involving cell culture work, experiments with cortical organoids, CRISPR-CAS9, live-cell imaging, molecular biology, confocal imaging, and data analysis. To liberate time for working on publications and grant proposals, mentoring students, and teaching, the PI needs substantial technical help for day-to-day operations in the lab. The Research Specialist will be reporting directly to the PI. Required Skills
