Position Summary The Assistant Controller (AC) will support the Company’s Controller in fulfilling the day-to-day accounting activities of the company including accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury & banking, job costing, and payroll & employee benefits administration. In addition, the AC will be directly responsible for the monthly general ledger closing and the generation of all company financial statements and management reports. The AC will report directly to the company’s Controller and will participate in the management and development of all accounting department personnel. The position has been created as a role within the organization for the development of an accounting professional capable of being promoted to the Controller position within a few years. Responsibilities Manage the accounting personnel.

Provide accurate and timely sales and production reporting. Develop personnel to effectively perform assigned duties. Monitor cash balances and prepare cash forecasts. Assist outside accountants in preparation of tax returns as needed. Coordinate reporting requirements with operational personnel for data capture and tracking purposes.

Maintenance of Cost System

Maintain appropriate costing systems for all products. Prepare and evaluate variances to historical results. Update raw material costs as necessary. Update and review other costs as necessary.

General Ledger

Responsible for the timeliness and accuracy of all company financial statements, including analysis and reporting of variances to historical results. Ensure that variances on comparative financial statements are understood and explained. Responsible for financial reporting of inventory balances and trends on a weekly and monthly basis. Perform monthly balance sheet evaluation and reconciliations to ensure that statements are in accordance with GAAP and balances are accurately stated. Present and effectively communicate performance results of company to management team and at Board meeting as required.

Forecasting

Coordinate and prepare weekly short term cash forecasts for all companies. Develop and prepare rolling twelve month financial forecasts, including cash flows.

Additional Responsibilities

Ensure appropriate internal control environment. Perform, review, and approve required internal control measures. Be key participant in selection and implementation of new ERP system to replace the multiple systems currently employed by the company’s various business units. Prepare and maintain files of all regulatory and corporate governance documents including board minutes.

Technical Qualifications Required Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance. Five to seven years of accounting experience with cost accounting experience. Experience in multi-facility manufacturing environment, strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting best practices and ERP functionalities. 3+ years supervisory experience. Proficiency in ERP’s and Microsoft’s Office programs with a strong background and ability using Excel.
