Material Handler

Summary:

Operates traveling or stationary overhead crane (ground controlled) to lift, move, and position loads of steel within the production facility.

Salary: $20.75-$22.00/hr.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Support and actively engage in Seaport Steel's Safety Program Operate Forklift Utilize a Crane to move material within the facility Review customer work order: materials, and customer order specifications. Verifies material stock before packaging products, loading trucks, or processing job orders. Loads/unloads material stock using a hand forklift with an overhead crane.

Load truck for shipment with supervision. Process stock pulls with supervision.

Build skids and pallets. Cleans and packages material for shipping. Communicate with a supervisor or team lead regarding warehouse procedures. Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates

Certified to Operator all equipment related to moving material within the warehouse. Language Ability

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees of the organization. Math Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
