Material Handler (1st Shift)

•Unloads and loads material from vehicles and material storage locations throughout the warehouse.
•Verify materials received against packing list and purchase order number.
•Examines material received, verified part numbers, and checks against quality standards.
•Receive incoming inventory records on computer system.
•Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on containers.
•Transport materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
•Fill work orders for internal and external customers per customer specific instructions.
•Stacks or assembles material into bundles and bands bundles together.
•Loads material onto vehicles and installs strapping, and padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
•Operate forklift and overhead crane to lift heavier material and equipment, which needs to be transported.
•Inventory material.
•Removes samples of material and labels with identifying information.
•Maintain assembly area and warehouse; ensure neat and orderly storage of material.
•Follow and comply with all safety regulations, work rules and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and use foot/feet to operate machine. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma and one to three years of related experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and situations to other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications
Requires the ability to operate various tools and equipment to include a computer, Raymond side loader, overhead crane, metal cutting saw and various small hand tools. Requires the ability to pass forklift/aerial operator course and drive equipment.
