Description
The Office of the Attorney General is the Chief Law Enforcement Office in the Commonwealth and employs avariety of personnel to advance its mission to defend the United States Constitution, the KentuckyConstitution as well as protect the citizens of our great Commonwealth.
The Office of Management and Budget is a key support mechanism within the Office of the Attorney Generalproviding a variety of services to ensure available funding and appropriate purchasing practices are followed.
The Purchasing Agent II position is responsible for:
- Receive requests for and establish personal service contracts.
- Strategic planning and coordination of future procurement needs.
- Develop Requests-for-proposals (RFPs) and monitor contracts.
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to adapt
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to use time efficiently

- Procard use and guidelines
- Records maintenance and management
- Purchasing and procurement regulations
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Five years of purchasing experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Additional experience in purchasing, administrative, accounting, procurement or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Certification as a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) from the Universal Public Certification Council will substitute for one year of the required education. Certification as a NIGP Certified Procurement Professional (NIGP-CPP), or Certification as a Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) from the Universal Public Certification Council, or Certification as a Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS) from the National Grants Management Association will substitute for two years of the required education.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
