Koniag IT Systems, a subsidiary of Koniag Management Solutions, is seeking an experienced Computer Operator II (SCLS) to join our team. This role is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the efficient operation of computer systems, networks, and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime. The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of computer operations, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to: The Computer Operator II will be responsible for: Monitoring and controlling computer systems, networks, and peripheral equipment to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, system backups, and hardware checks, following established procedures and best practices. Identifying and troubleshooting operational issues, system errors, and hardware/software malfunctions, implementing solutions or escalating complex problems to senior personnel or technical support teams. Coordinating with technical support teams and vendors to address system problems and implement solutions. Ensuring data security and integrity by following established protocols and procedures for data backup, recovery, and access controls. Maintaining accurate records and documentation of system operations, maintenance activities, and incidents. Providing technical support and guidance to junior computer operators and end-users, addressing issues or escalating complex problems as needed. Collaborating with IT professionals, system administrators, and other colleagues to optimize system performance and implement enhancements. Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, tools, and industry best practices in computer operations and maintenance. Requirements: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to obtain a Public Trust Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in computer operations, system administration, or a related role in an IT environment. Process scheduled routines that present few difficult operating problems (e.g., infrequent or easily resolved error conditions). In response to computer output instructions or error conditions. Apply standard operating or corrective procedures to problems that do not respond to preplanned procedure. May serve as an assistant operator, working under general supervision. Relevant certifications in computer operations, system administration, or related areas (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) are preferred. Strong knowledge of computer systems, networks, and peripheral equipment, including hardware and software components. Proficient troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve system issues. Proficiency in operating system administration, system monitoring tools, and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash). Excellent understanding of data backup and recovery procedures, as well as data security and access control measures. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze system performance and identify areas for improvement. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document procedures and provide technical guidance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Desired Skills and Competencies: Experience in a government or military IT environment, with knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements. Familiarity with virtualization technologies, cloud computing, and containerization. Knowledge of automation tools and scripting languages for system administration tasks. Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices for secure system operations. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Working Environment & Conditions This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
