Responsibilities:
- Anticipate, prepare for, and attend trials, mediation, and arbitration on behalf of clients
- Get appropriate documents prepared, such as motions, pleadings, notices, and discovery requests and responses
- Attend court hearings on behalf of clients and argue motions
- Stay updated on changing applicable laws and statutes on the local, state, and federal levels
- Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, and motions
- Manage a pipeline of approximately 100-120 personal injury cases to ensure cases progress seamlessly from inception to settlement/trial
- Litigate cases for maximum settlement amounts
- Conduct depositions
- Attend mediations, hearings, and trials as needed
- Prepare legal documents
- Maintain heavy communication with clients, opposing counsel and adjusters
- Negotiate settlements as needed, outside of mediation and trial
- Meet monthly established goals and metrics
Qualifications:
- Excellent time management and interpersonal skills are required, as well as persuasive writing and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience advocating for clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration
- Five years of experience as a senior associate in the legal industry
- Bachelor’s degree with a law degree from an accredited law school (such as an LLM, JSD, or J.D. degree)
- Member of state and local bar associations in good standing
- Must have an active NY bar license in good standing
- At least 5+ years of experience working as an associate attorney
- Excellent customer service skills
- Track Record of successful settlements via negotiation, Offers of Settlement, mediation and jury trials
Compensation:
$200,000+ based on experience + bonus
