ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities

The Planning Technician will aid and support the project managers, project planners, and other Land Development staff in the project and platting process.

* Conduct zoning, plat, and site plan reviews of commercial and residential development proposals and signage applications as part of the overall building permit and development process. * Assist in the preparation of zoning reports and plats for the Zoning Board of Adjustment, Planning Commission and City Council presentations. * Assist customers with permit, plat, and zoning application intake, and information requests at the front counter, by phone, or by email. * Compile and manage the development and zoning statistics and databases. * May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Requires an Associate's Degree in Planning, Architecture, Construction, Engineering, Drafting or related field * Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of technical experience and/or public contact duties, preferably related to planning or equivalent field * A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered * A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.

Selected applicants must be able to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment drug test.

Any position that lists a minimum qualification for education level and/or license/certification will require the applicant to provide proof of documentation if selected for hire into the position with the City of Corpus Christi.
