Job Title: HR Specialist 1

Location: Peoria, IL, or Irving, TX (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Duration: 6-month contract with potential extension or conversion to hire

Rate: $21/hour W2 + Benefits OR $25/hour C2C 

Summary:

The HR Specialist 1 supports HR operations by providing excellent service and executing customer service and administrative tasks. Responsibilities include managing employee-facing processes, ensuring compliance, and contributing to operational excellence.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Execute processes related to payroll, benefits administration, time tracking, and employee data management.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employee and leader inquiries via the HR inbox.
• Use MS Office 365 tools, particularly Excel (formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables), to organize and analyze HR data.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance HR operations.
• Maintain and update HR knowledge bases and operational metrics reporting.

Typical Day & Interaction with Team:

• Task Breakdown:

  • Respond to HR inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Document workflows and ensure accurate HRIS records.
  • Generate and interpret reports on HR activities and trends.

• Interaction Level:

  • Collaborate with internal HR teams and provide support for employees and leaders.

• Work Environment:

  • Hybrid model: three days onsite, two days remote.

Skills & Education Requirements:

• Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office 365, especially Excel (formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
  • Strong customer service and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.

• Preferred Skills:

  • General HR knowledge or experience.

• Education:

  • Degree or equivalent experience desired.

Disqualifiers:

• Lack of basic Excel skills or poor customer service abilities.
