We are on the lookout for an experienced VP of Accounting to join our team in Louisville, Kentucky. As a crucial part of our organization, you will play a key role in overseeing the accuracy of financial statements, managing grants, and providing strategic financial insights. You will also be responsible for establishing robust internal controls, coordinating audit processes, and leading a high-performing accounting team.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
• Manage the financial aspects of multiple federal and state grants, which includes budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
• Collaborate with program leadership to align grant budgets with organizational goals and funding requirements.
• Provide strategic financial recommendations to the executive team, supporting long-term financial planning and sustainability initiatives.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure compliance with financial policies.
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of financial processes, recommending improvements as necessary.
• Coordinate the annual audit process, working with external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit.
• Prepare necessary documentation and reports for audit compliance and oversight.
• Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Provide training and resources to staff on financial management and compliance issues.• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-level accounting role
• Strong proficiency in all accounting functions
• Demonstrated experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Proven expertise in auditing procedures and practices
• Extensive knowledge of budget processes and forecasting
• Experience in grant accounting and related financial regulations
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and other related financial systems
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required; a master’s degree or CPA certification is preferred
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Deep understanding of financial regulations and accounting principles
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
