Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI) is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our U.S. Accounting Shared Services team in Chicago, IL. You will report to the Controller-U.S. Shared Services and be a key member of the Shared Services organization overseeing and executing monthly financial reporting and compliance requirements. You will also manage accountants and build strong working relationships and collaborate with all levels of finance staff, including the Director, Global Accounting Shared Services and the Chief Accounting Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing of accounting records and financial statements to meet required deadlines and ensure accuracy of financial statements

  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley 404 (SOX) as well as Corporate accounting policies and procedures

  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff and senior accountants

  • Works closely with business unit finance directors to analyze financial statements and explain accounting treatments and unusual variances

  • Review key balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Resolve challenging issues appropriately and communicate in a timely, clear and concise manner

  • Identify, implement and monitor scalable process improvements

  • Prepare year-end and quarter-end audit schedules; liaise with external and internal auditors

  • Participates in special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor 's degree in Accounting with a minimum of seven years of relevant and progressive accounting experience

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP. SOX and internal controls experience

  • CPA and public accounting experience highly desirable

  • Supervisory experience managing a team, including remote workers

  • Must be detail-oriented, analytical, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to operate in various software systems with advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • Experience with publicly-held companies preferred; experience in a manufacturing company a plus

  • Ability to travel up to 10% within North America
