JOB PURPOSE:
The Bartolotta Restaurants is seeking a dynamic and proven leader to join our Finance team as an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in the success of our accounting function and The Bartolotta Restaurants by ensuring we maintain accurate and timely financial records, identifying and implementing efficiencies, monitoring and enforcing adequate financial procedures and internal controls, and meeting the highest standards of service for our internal and external business partners. This role oversees our daily accounting activities, including accounts payable and receivable, sales and general ledger reporting, and financial statement reporting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high attention-to-detail, effective communication skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and a natural inclination toward continuous improvement. The Accounting Manager serves as a key member of our Finance team and collaborates closely with leaders across the organization as we continue to elevate and grow our business.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and analyze comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements accurately and in a timely manner, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile daily postings, accruals, various general ledger accounts and bank statements to ensure accurate financial information is available.
- Manage accounts payable, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments and recording of payments.
- Monitor cash, credit card, and other sales transactions to ensure accurate and timely records, reporting, and deposits.
- Plan, manage, and lead the month- and year-end close process, working closely with restaurant management, chefs, the Finance team, and department leaders to provide complete an accurate reporting.
- Work with external auditors and accountants to support and ensure timely completion of our annual external financial statement review and tax filings.
- Document and maintain adequate financial standards, policies, controls, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and tax regulations, including for sales accounting, cash management, inventory management, and tip processing.
- Provide training and support for team members, especially accounting staff, restaurant managers, and chefs, on financial standards and procedures.
- Complete variance and other financial statement analysis to provide insights on business performance and develop logical conclusions and recommendations for restaurant managers, chefs, and senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities for efficiencies and support the planning and execution of continuous improvement projects related to accounting activities.
- Supervise, support, and mentor accounting team members, including training on new procedures and policies, regular performance evaluation and feedback, and commitment to their professional growth and development.
- Provide the highest quality service and support to restaurant management, chefs, department leaders, and other business partners.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, other financial reporting principles, practices, and requirements.
- Highly organized, innovative, and self-directed with a history of delivering results.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Intellectually curios with strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with Finance team members and cross-functionally.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Ability to balance competing priorities and perform at a high-level in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
- 1+ year(s) in a supervisory or other leadership role, preferred.
- CPA, CMA, or CA, preferred.
- Prior experience in the hospitality, restaurant, retail, or other consumer services industry, preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
- Handson experience with financial reporting and data tools, software, programs, and systems.
