Position Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Plant Manager / Assistant General Manager to lead our manufacturing operations in Franklin Park. This role is integral to ensuring the efficient production of our construction vehicles, overseeing day-to-day operations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing plant operations in a manufacturing environment, with strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality control, and supply chain management. Ensure that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors, production staff, and other plant personnel. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork.
Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategies that drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity. Participate in long-term planning and goal setting for the plant.
Budget Management: Manage plant budgets, including labor, materials, and overhead costs. Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed to meet budgetary goals.
Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies. Promote a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing safety programs and protocols.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization. Utilize lean manufacturing principles and other best practices.
Customer Focus: Work closely with sales, customer service, and product development teams to ensure customer needs are met. Drive initiatives to improve product quality and delivery times.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or similar) is preferred.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a plant management or similar leadership role. Experience in the construction vehicle or heavy equipment manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations and lead cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in using manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
