The Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) is currently seeking a Senior Communications Advisor to provide leadership for strategic planning, design, development, coordination, and implementation of communication strategies. This position will provide consultation, advice, and communications coordination to executive leadership, the communications team, and other internal OCM staff. This position will oversee high-priority, high-visibility issues that have major implications for the Office. This position is located in St. Paul and may telework from home two days per week and is expected to be in the office three days per week. A successful incumbent in this position will be able to: Identify agency communications priorities and needs and short-term or ongoing strategic plans to effectively communicate with key audiences. Provide effective consultation, guidance, and technical support to OCM staff regarding communications goals, objectives, tactics, and evaluation. Serve as a project manager for agency communications project initiatives, including those that are part of the agencys implementation and stand-up work. Minimum Qualifications To facilitate proper years of service crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. Four (4) years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or media relations. A bachelors degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or another relevant field may substitute for one (1) year of experience. Experience drafting memos, press releases, newsletters, blogs, social media content, presentations, and simple graphics. Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills, including knowledge of plain language. Ability to develop and coordinate communication strategies and provide effective consultation to agency leadership. Preferred Qualifications Seven (7) or more years of experience in strategic communications, public relations, or media relations. Bilingual in another language relevant to large facets of MN communities, such as Spanish, Hmong, or Somali. Experience using project management tools and knowledge of project management best practices. Experience in a lead role providing guidance to team members. Experience in the cannabis or other county, state, or federally regulated industry. Additional Requirements A job offer will be contingent upon successfully passing a background check.
