Mainframe Consultant

Job Summary The Mainframe Consultant will be responsible for supporting and driving legacy migration and modernization projects, including on-premise to cloud migrations and transitioning mainframe applications to Microfocus and Azure environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mainframe programming (COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, DB2), production issue triaging, and automation using tools like Python. Strong communication skills and experience with Agile methodologies are essential to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities • Support legacy migration and modernization projects, including on-premise to cloud migrations (Azure) and migrations to Microfocus. • Utilize automation tools, including Python, to develop problem statements and enhance migration processes. • Contribute to building team composition for migration projects and support team development. • Program and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, and DB2. • Perform triaging and troubleshooting of production issues, using essential mainframe tools. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively to align on project requirements. • Document business requirements, participate in Agile practices, and ensure adherence to Product Development Life Cycle standards. Required Qualifications • Experience in mainframe programming languages and tools (COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, DB2). • Proven experience in legacy migration and mainframe modernization projects, including cloud migration to Azure and migration to Microfocus. • Knowledge of automation tools and ability to develop solutions using Python. • Strong production issue triaging skills in mainframe environments. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Experience with Agile methodologies and product development life cycles. Preferred Qualifications • Knowledge of Java and distributed solutions. • Experience in building and managing migration project teams. • Familiarity with Business Requirement Specification documentation. Education: Bachelors Degree
