POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Designer – Women’s Suiting & Wovens is responsible for supporting the design & development of global product offerings for the category. In this role, you will be a crucial part of the design team in supporting the creation of sophisticated, modern and relevant tailoring & outerwear products. This includes assisting the design process for conceptualising and interpreting seasonal design directions, conducting research, and aiding in the development of tailoring & outerwear collections that align with the vision, market trends, and commercial demands. You will collaborate with a diverse design team, merchandising and supply partners, gain valuable design & business experience, and play a vital role in elevating the brand's offerings.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

Design Support:

  • In partnership with the design lead build sketches and technical drawings for garments, including blazers, tailored jackets and outerwear, tailored + casual trousers, pants and skirts.

  • Assist in brainstorming sessions and concept conceptualization to develop new and innovative designs.

  • Build organized design development boards, line sheets, charts and CADs.

  • Ability to meet overlapping deadlines, strong time management skills and proactive problem solving.

Trend Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct research on trends, fabrications, colors, construction techniques, and runway relevant to the product categories.

  • Stay up to date with the latest market trends and customer preferences in women's tailoring & outerwear.

  • Prepare trend presentations and mood boards to encourage and advise the design process.

Material Support:

  • Assist in communicating development on fabrics, trims, artworks and embellishment for garment prototypes and production.

  • Works closely with fabric and supply teams for sampling and fabric ordering.

Tech Pack Creation:

  • Responsible for creating detailed tech packs, design specifications and bill of material for samples and production.

  • Supports design pass-offs with technical design team from design details to construction.

Sample Review and Fit Sessions:

  • Participate in sample reviews and fit sessions to provide feedback on the fit, construction, and design details of prototypes.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Responsible for communication with cross-functional teams, including product developers and merchandisers, to ensure flawless execution of development and production.

  • Proactively communicates with design lead with status updates and timelines in a timely manner to ensure achievements and needs are being met.

Brand Alignment:

  • Understand and maintain the brand's design aesthetic and language in all women's tailoring & outerwear products.

  • Collaborate with the design team and brand team to ensure consistency in storytelling and branding across tailoring & outerwear collections.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience :

  • 1+ years corporate design experience in womenswear preferred, with a specialization in Tailoring, Outerwear, Wovens products, and/or a related category.

Skills:

  • Proficient in design software: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Excel; Centric PLM + Miro a big plus.

  • Passion for fashion and garment design. Skilled in garment construction.

  • Exceptional organizational skills.

  • Strong time management skills and demonstrate proactive problem solving.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while staying flexible.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to optimally present ideas.

  • Welcome new challenges with optimism and patience.

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

Internal: Partner with Designer daily to present new insights and secure approval of designs within deadlines, as well as discuss pertinent issues. Collaborate in weekly design team meetings. Meet with Sourcing team on weekly basis to review production issues, and follow up on any color, fabric, trim approvals needed in a timely manner. Meet with Technical design team for fittings during the seasonal development process, and partner on tech pack updates as needed. Communicate clearly on daily emails with cross functional partners. Support and add to the overall success of the design team and company.

External: Assist in selection of fabrics, trend research and trims, meeting with external vendors and partners. Connect with overseas hub offices.

DECISION MAKING: Daily decisions regarding production issues: color, fabric, trim, L/D, strike off approvals; these decisions affect the overall quality and outcome of the product. Collaborate with cross functional teams on direction of the design integrity by delivery to drive sales and evolve the product. Advise technical design team on design vision for fit of all products.

RESOURCEFULNESS/CREATIVITY: Able to design and handle multiple seasons at one time. Maintain consistent high quality of product from season to season, vendor to vendor. Flexible in designs to meet sales needs while still providing newness to products. Willing to make updates as needed to meet the changing business needs. Must be very organized and detailed to effectively follow up on preproduction approvals. Highly creative in design to provide newness and drive sales while maintaining the correct technical approach.

  • Fast-paced, collaborative, and time-sensitive.

  • Maintain an organized workplace, from physical protos to digital files.

  • Creative environment with a focus on the brand aesthetic.

Pay Range:$60,000 - $75,000

PVH currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. These ranges are based on what PVH reasonably believes that it will pay an associate for their base salary for said position at the time of the posting. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location and other relevant skills. Additional Compensation: This role is bonus eligible.
