Tax Manager We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join our finance team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Tax Manager will oversee and manage the company’s tax compliance and reporting activities, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations. You will be responsible for managing indirect taxes such as sales and use tax, handling tax exemption forms, payroll tax compliance, and working on projects related to the investment tax credit (ITC). You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external consultants to optimize the company’s tax strategy and ensure efficient tax planning. What You’ll Do: Manage the preparation and timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, including income, sales, property, and franchise taxes. Review and ensure accuracy of all tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions in collaboration with the financial reporting team. Oversee the company’s sales and use tax compliance, ensuring correct application of tax rates, exemptions, and rules across multiple jurisdictions. Provide guidance on sales and use tax implications of transactions, including purchases, sales, leases, and other activities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and apply appropriate exemption statuses for applicable transactions, including analyzing the eligibility of purchases and sales for tax exemption. Maintain a system for tracking and organizing exemption certificates across various jurisdictions to minimize the risk of sales tax audits. Manage and support the reporting and documentation for the Investment Tax Credit (ITC), including identifying qualifying expenditures and collaborating with external consultant to maximize tax benefits. Provide payroll tax advisory services to the payroll department in support of payroll tax preparation and filings, payroll tax audits, and work with external payroll providers as needed. Develop and maintain internal controls related to tax processes to ensure compliance and mitigate risks. Identify and implement tax saving opportunities, including credit, deductions, and incentives. Monitor ongoing changes in tax legislation (including sales tax, use tax, and ITC) and assess their impact on the company’s operations and compliance. Coordinate with external tax consultants, auditors, and government agencies, as necessary. Manage and respond to any tax audits or inquiries from tax authorities, particularly related to indirect taxes or ITC claims. Lead tax -related projects and initiatives, ensure deadlines and goals are met efficiently. What You’ll Need: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or a related field. Master’s degree in taxation preferred. 8+ years of experience in corporate tax, with at least 3 years in a functional management role. Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws and regulations (federal, state, and local), including indirect taxes (sales and use tax), payroll taxes, and investment tax credits. Experience with tax software and major ERP system is required. Microsoft Dynamics ERP system is preferred. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex tax matters. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals. Seeks out ways to improve current processes and procedures. Positive attitude and demonstrates good judgment. Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines. What's In It for You?
