Overview

We are seeking a full-time Manager IT Software Engineering

in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities for multiple software engineering teams and a set of software applications. Essential Functions Accountable for the health, maturity, predictability and effectiveness of each development team, the stability/quality of the software products/technologies, and the successful delivery of the programs/projects executed by each delivery team. Fosters innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvements of both the software team and products to align with organizational structure and core values. Ensures projects are appropriately staffed to align with priorities and delivery targets. Collaborates with functional and technical leads to ensure optimum team effectiveness. Monitors organization health through each squad’s delivery and quality metrics. Participates in evolving product development roadmaps and the stability and quality of applications and technologies. Ensures that security risks are properly addressed, that release processes comply with standards, and that organizational policies are adhered to. Engages and motivates engineering staff by communicating frequently on the topics of vision, goals, upcoming changes, and current status. Provides visibility to reporting director on major accomplishments, changes, and risks as well as the health and evolution of both the products and the teams. Participates in the incident management process serving as incident owner and authoring incident reports as necessary. Accountable for effectively managing change including approving changes, communicating upcoming major releases to IT Management and evaluating risks. Evaluates, selects, and implements new technologies and works with technology vendors to evaluate solutions, negotiate rates, and maintain existing relationships. Build/maintain high performing team(s) by recruiting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent. Promote team member engagement/effectiveness by providing constructive feedback and promoting personal development, including writing and conducting annual performance appraisals. Develop/manage team and individual performance and capacity metrics to identify successful operations or areas where improvement is needed, while also working to ensure that all organizational objectives are met. Demonstrate ongoing personal development, professional growth, and continuous education. Accept, develop and execute projects and other miscellaneous IT & Security duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems AND

a minimum of 5 years relevant experience as an Information Technology professional OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule). Experience working in Agile environments (XP, Scrum, Kanban). Familiarity with SDLC, Quality Standards, and Best Practices. Demonstrated experience designing and implementing global applications. Proven track record of delivery – including the coordination and management of projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented, and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Desired Qualifications Experience implementing and managing applications including Web Content Management (WCM), Product Information Management (PIM), Email Marketing, Digital Asset Management, and/or eCommerce. Experience with web-based applications. Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Payment Card Industry (PCI), NIST, ISO27001, GDPR, or other regulations. Experience supervising and managing product development teams. Experience with automated testing tools and testing procedures. Strong Communication Skills: Ability to bridge the gap between business and technical teams by clearly translating business requirements into technical applications, and vice versa. Proven track record of presenting complex technical concepts in a way that is understandable to non-technical stakeholders. Project Management: Experience in managing or supporting projects, including tracking milestones, timelines, and deliverables, while maintaining effective communication between all involved parties. Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to manage expectations and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Capable of identifying key stakeholders, understanding their needs, and ensuring their requirements are met through technical solutions. Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
