Overview
Sev1Tech is searching for a Senior Systems Administrator with wide experience in designing and managing IT systems within a closed network environment. The successful candidate will have a robust background in managing a complex IT environment. This position supports the design, management, and configuration of IT systems on the US Space Force meshONE-Terrestrial network. This role requires strong technical expertise in the Windows environment, problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills to ensure optimal performance and security of systems. The work location for this position is Denver, CO.
meshONET is the ground component of the larger meshONE concept and will eventually integrate with the Air and Space components of meshONE to provide an endtoend network solution across all mediums, environments, and warfighting domains.
Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, operating systems, and applications ensuring system reliability, performance, and security across the IT infrastructure Act as the primary SME for PKI, Active Directory, and overall Windows environment of the meshONE-T network Close coordination with cybersecurity analysts, network engineers, NOC controllers, and Mission Partners while conducting operations, administration, and maintenance of the IT systems Implements and manages backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data integrity and ensure operational continuity of the system to include regular testing of the backup procedures and disaster recovery plans Ensure security patches and updates to systems and applications are completed in required timeframes and in coordination with the cybersecurity tea Installs, configures, and tests servers, blade chassis, blade servers, networking appliances, and all associated cabling with new node builds Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure for adherence to DOD guidelines and industry best practices while looking for areas of system resource optimization Work with Configuration Management team to provide detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and updates Mentoring and support junior system administrators and IT staff with on-the-job training and guidance on best practices Provides remote hands support for CO Front Range-area meshONE-T node locations
Salary Range: $130,000 to $140,000
Responsibilities
8+ years IT experience CompTIA Security+ Certification Applicable certifications: MCSA, MCSE, etc. 3 -5 years experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows environments, with specific hands-on experience working with Active Directory and PKI Knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) Knowledge of Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) Knowledge of virtualization and containerization basics (e.g., basic understanding of VMware or Hyper-V) Knowledge of storage architecture (NAS/SANS) Security hardening of Information Systems (Linux/Windows/Endpoints) Hands-on experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, Ansible, Powershell, etc.) Basic networking knowledge (OSI layers, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Top Secret/SCI Eligible
Qualifications Experience with VMWare, vSphere, vCenter, and NSX Experience with monitoring systems (Solarwinds/Elastic) Experience with ServiceNow platform and products Logic and reasoning for troubleshooting Problem-solving and multi-tasking abilities Understanding and responding to feedback Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
