Department: Behavioral Health Treatment Services
Position Title: Specialized Para-Professional
Supervisor: Director of Mental Health
Position Summary:
The Specialized Paraprofessional would provide essential support to students with diverse learning needs while focusing on academic, behavioral, and emotional development. A Specialized Paraprofessional primarily supports students in an educational setting, assisting with academic tasks, and providing social and emotional support. Their focus is on facilitating learning and social-emotional integration within the classroom. This role requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on students' lives.

Job Responsibilities:
Academic Support: Assist students with assignments, homework, and projects. Provide one-on-one or small-group instructional support. Utilize strategies to enhance student learning.
Social - Emotional - Behavioral Support: Provide emotional support and encouragement to students. Assist with social and emotional skills development. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Use individual and general classroom management strategies to promote academic and social engagement. Support students in managing their emotions and behavior.
Communication: Communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other professionals. Collaborate with staff and supervisors as needed to assess and monitor concerns Other Areas: Ensure overall safety and well-being for student/s in their care and supervision. Support students in related therapies as required. Work collaboratively with a supervisor when providing consultation and feedback. Participate in ongoing annual training and professional development opportunities. Stay up-to-date on best practices in education and behavioral health. Will incorporate trauma-informed practices Maintain accurate timesheets and complete session notes in CentralReach.
Experience, Education, and Requirements: High School Diploma or GED is required. An associate's degree or higher is preferred. Experience working with students with social and emotional challenges preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members. Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
