Job Scope:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating raw materials, equipment, and staffing to provide the highest return on investment for Diamond Pet Foods. Additionally, the Production Supervisor is responsible for assuring the quality and food safety of all products manufactured at Diamond Pet Foods.

The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating raw materials, equipment, and staffing to provide the highest return on investment for Diamond Pet Foods. Additionally, the Production Supervisor is responsible for assuring the quality and food safety of all products manufactured at Diamond Pet Foods.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review all production/shift documentation for accuracy on daily basis.
- Perform and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Food Safety Protocols in accordance with company policy.
- Perform all functions in accordance with sound safety practices and procedures.
- Report all safety violations and safety hazards to site Safety Coordinator and Safety Manager immediately.
- Participate in all corporate programs such as Food Defense, Food Safety Plan/HACCP, Employee Safety, etc.
- IFS System- Must maintain a working knowledge of the IFS System pertaining to inbound ingredients, production schedules, inventory entry and management.
- Actively participate with all functional company areas (Safety, Quality Control, Food Safety, Production, Human Resources, Administration, etc.) ensuring all members of the Maintenance Department do the same.
- Under the direction of the Plant Manager and Assistant Plant Manager enforce equitable disciplinary program as specified according to policies and the Employee Handbook.
- Analyze and resolve work problems, and/or assist employees in solving work problems.
- Initiate and/or suggest plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and direct set-up and adjustments of machines.
- Maintain production schedules and estimate worker hour-requirements for completion of job assignment, including adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Develop and promote ongoing growth development through promoting development in Production personnel through onsite training (cross-training, etc).
- Actively participate in the coverage for opposite shift absences through ensuring prompt employee sign up or assigning if necessary. Hold employees accountable for covering for the full shift as required.
- Ensure employees are competently cross trained in all positions within their zone.
- Understand, follow, comply, and maintain all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and HACCP in accordance with company policy.
- Complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and be conscientious about assignments.
- Must work in a safe, professional manner while performing all functions in accordance with sound safety practices and procedures. Must promptly report all safety violations, safety hazards, accidents, property damage, or near misses to management immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be willing to/have availability to work any shift (day or night shift).
- Ability to supervise multiple production employees in different departments.
- Ability to work independently without immediate direction or oversight. Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and integrity
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively communicate with employees and management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills (communication, listening, team player, cooperative, approachable).
- Ability to work in cold, hot, dusty areas and at various heights.
- Ability to read and understand SOP's, GMP's and HACCP practices and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) and GMP's (General Manufacturing Practices) with ability to interpret and teach them to operators.
- Ability to read and understand production schedules, instructions, manuals, etc.
- Must be able to take directions, work efficiently and safely.
- Able to operate a forklift efficiently and safely.
- Ability to effectively operate a computer system including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Ability to be organized, flexible, multitask, manage stress, and perform acceptably under pressure.
- Ability to maintain a problem-solving mindset able to make accurate critical decisions; to anticipate problems and to develop constructive and balanced solutions.
Education & Experience Recommendation:
- High School Diploma required.
- 2 years of experience in food manufacturing or other similar industry that involves food handling safety and production; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience is a large plus.
- 3 years of experience in supervising a team of production employees.
