Production Apparel Manager

Position Overview: The Production Apparel Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production process for a clothing brand or company. This role ensures the smooth operation of production workflows, maintains high-quality standards, and meets deadlines while managing resources efficiently. The manager coordinates with suppliers, manufacturers, and design teams to bring apparel designs from concept to finished product while ensuring that production stays within budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Management:

    • Oversee the daily operations of apparel production from design handoff to final product.
    • Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring timely delivery of finished products.
    • Monitor production timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
    • Manage workflow and prioritize production tasks to avoid bottlenecks.
  2. Quality Control:

    • Ensure all products meet the company's quality standards and specifications.
    • Collaborate with quality control teams to conduct inspections at various stages of production.
    • Address any defects or issues during production and resolve them promptly.
  3. Supplier & Vendor Relations:

    • Maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and external vendors.
    • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
    • Identify and source the best materials and suppliers that align with the brand’s quality and sustainability standards.
  4. Team Leadership:

    • Lead and manage production teams, including seamstresses, pattern makers, and other production staff.
    • Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to production staff.
    • Ensure effective communication across all departments involved in the production process.
  5. Cost Control & Budgeting:

    • Monitor and control production costs to stay within budget.
    • Identify areas for cost reduction without compromising quality.
    • Develop cost-effective strategies for material procurement and production processes.
  6. Collaboration with Design & Development Teams:

    • Work closely with design and product development teams to ensure that designs are technically feasible for mass production.
    • Provide feedback on design concepts to optimize production efficiency.
    • Assist in prototyping and the sampling process, ensuring that all samples meet specifications before proceeding to production.
  7. Reporting & Analysis:

    • Track and analyze production performance, reporting key metrics to senior management.
    • Prepare regular production status reports, including any delays, issues, and resolutions.
    • Use data to forecast production needs and optimize resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel/Textile/Fashion Design, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in apparel production management or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, from design to manufacturing.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and working cross-functionally.
  • Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and production management software.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
