Job Responsibilities:
- New Product Development Support:
- Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new product designs.
- Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) analyses to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Develop manufacturing plans, including process flow diagrams, assembly instructions, and production schedules for new products.
- Provide input on material selection, tooling requirements, and production equipment for new product lines.
- Automation Integration:
- Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency and quality.
- Design and implement automated systems, including robotics, conveyor systems, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), to streamline production processes.
- Collaborate with automation vendors to select appropriate equipment and oversee installation and commissioning activities.
- Develop and maintain automation standards and best practices across manufacturing facilities.
- Process Optimization:
- Conduct time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in manufacturing processes.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts to address manufacturing issues and non-conformances.
- Utilize statistical process control (SPC) techniques to monitor process performance and ensure product quality.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, supply chain, and quality assurance, to ensure alignment on manufacturing objectives and requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities to support successful product launches.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and production staff.
- Support audits and inspections by regulatory agencies or external auditors as needed.
- Project Planning and Management:
- Lead the planning and execution of capital projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and priorities.
- Develop project scope, objectives, and deliverables, including cost estimates, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Create and maintain project schedules, track progress, and mitigate risks to ensure timely and within-budget project completion.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide general technical support to Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering and other departments.
- Use data driven frameworks (such as Six Sigma) and LEAN or flow manufacturing methods to improve production processes
- Promote and support LEAN Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities in Manufacturing.
- Support the Quality Policy and corporate quality goals by identifying and eliminating problems that interfere with achieving goals.Seek to prevent quality defects through understanding the criteria and severity of those defects through Bobrick's Four Level Defect Grading System.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or other Engineering disciplines (Mechanical Engineering) or related technical field
- A minimum of five years of related experience. Familiarity with machinery and production equipment
- Excellent leadership and communication skills. Demonstrated skills in the following areas: team/project leadership, oral and written communication and analytical problem solving. Technical background should include hands-on experience.
