Description

Charlotte Latin School is looking for dedicated Sports Camp Counselors with a strong sense of sportsmanship to join us this summer at Latin Camps, beginning June 2025. Sports Camp Counselors perform a variety of duties, as summarized below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist adult Coaches of the assigned sports camp
  • Walk campers to and from various locations across campus
  • Help set up, clean up, and maintain fields, courts, and equipment as needed
  • Collect daily attendance for assigned camp
  • Participate in all camp activities as needed
  • Lead activities, games, and matches, including referring and keeping score as needed.
  • Lead recreation breaks
  • Serve as a role model for campers and peers
  • Maintain the highest level of sportsmanship and safety

Our Camp Directors determine schedules and may include:
  • Morning Camp: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
  • Afternoon Camp: 12:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.


Qualifications

Experience
  • Applicants must be at least a rising 10th-grader
  • Experience playing the sport is required at a MS, JV, or HS level
  • Prior experience supervising or caring for school-aged children (excluding family members) is preferred.

Skills
  • An understanding of age-appropriate sports activities.
  • Knowledge of the rules of the specific sport you are coaching.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative co-worker with parents, faculty, and staff.
  • A sincere desire to work with children in a nurturing and engaging environment.
  • Comfortable participating in activities indoors and outdoors.
  • Adheres to the highest level of sportsmanship and safety.

Working Conditions and Environment
  • Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
  • Frequently talk and hear.
  • Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor heat and cold temperatures.
  • Long or odd hours, as needed.


Applicants must be available June 2 - June 5 for mandatory virtual training and must be able to commit to one week of Camp Monday-Friday. Applicants should ensure their availability aligns with these requirements before applying.
