Job Description

The BAE Systems Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) is looking for a SecOps-inspired full stack developer intern. This intern will help experienced developers solve complex cyber defense challenges by creating custom applications integrating with other state-of-the-art defense systems. These solutions are often needed rapidly and focused on automation, detection, and data collection. The intern will also work closely with and develop solutions for other teams on the GSOC including Operations, Threat Intelligence, Malware Analysis, Endpoint Threat Detection, and Insider Threat.

Technical Requirements

  1. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and programming languages
  2. Background in software development
  3. Interest in system management, database design, backend development, and frontend development
  4. Ability to deploy and manage applications on Linux-based servers and containers
  5. Ability to document code and solutions
  6. Ability to communicate and work effectively with other developers and security analysts

The Part-Time Internship consists of the following components

  1. Student Status: Rising Senior status (current Juniors); OR current Seniors (graduating May or Dec).
  2. Citizenship requirements: U.S. Person (Green Card and/or Citizenship)
  3. Compensation: The internship is paid on an hourly basis, up to 20 hours per week.
  4. No benefits are provided as part of this internship program. No housing or transportation is provided for this internship experience.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  1. Student Status: Rising Senior status (current Juniors); OR current Seniors (graduating May or Dec).
  2. Must have experience in software development
  3. Pursuing Software Development, Computer Security, or Computer Science Degree
  4. Certifications related to development or security such as CIW certificates, Project, OSCP, etc.
  5. Interest in cyber security and/or penetration testing
  6. Linux and containerization experience

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  1. Software Development Certificates
  2. Cyber Security Certificates
  3. Agile/Scrum/Project Management Experience
  4. Although we do not require specific language or technology experience, we prefer the following:
  5. Containerization: Docker, Docker Compose
  6. Virtualization & Infrastructure: AWS, VMWare vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, FlatCar OS
  7. Infrastructure Management: Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, Salt, Nagios
  8. Databases: MongoDB, Redis, MySQL/MariaDB
  9. Backend: Rust, Python, NodeJS, Flask, Express, Websockets
  10. Frontend: TypeScript, React, Sass
  11. OS: Linux in general, RHEL, Ubuntu
