Job Description

As a Water and Waste Maintenance Team Member, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of water supply systems and waste management infrastructure. You will work on various projects including the installation, inspection, and repair of pipes, pumps, valves, and treatment equipment, ensuring water and waste systems meet safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water distribution and wastewater systems.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair water lines, sewage lines, pumps, meters, valves, and other related equipment.
Assist in the installation of water and sewer pipes, meters, and related infrastructure.
Monitor system operations to detect any issues with water supply or waste management.
Follow safety protocols when handling hazardous materials and using equipment.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Respond to emergencies such as water main breaks or sewer blockages.
Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Communicate effectively with the public, contractors, and supervisors regarding water and waste service issues.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in plumbing, water, or waste management is a plus.
Experience in water and waste maintenance, plumbing, or a related field.
Familiarity with water treatment systems, pump stations, and sewage systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and respond to emergency calls outside of normal hours.
Valid driver’s license required.
