The Development Director is responsible for planning and successfully executing a comprehensive fundraising plan. The program will include individual giving, corporate giving/sponsorships, major gift portfolio, planned giving, annual giving, and direct mail. This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer and directly supervise the Development Associate. The Development Director will work closely with the Leadership Team, Board of Directors, Davis Street Foundation, and development staff to design and fulfill annual and major gift fundraising strategies and goals. Responsibilities

Design and implement strategies and tactics for growth and success across all areas of fundraising, including major gifts, planned giving, annual fund, and corporate and foundation grants. Manage and develop a portfolio of up to approximately 250 current, lapsed, and prospective donors, deepening relationships in person, virtually, over the phone, and in writing. Engage donors and prospects at events and other venues. Plan and execute regular donor cultivation events, house parties, and political briefings, working closely with Host Committee members, staff, and board members. Provide stewardship and recognition of major donors. Write persuasive presentations and personalized emails, letters, reports, and proposals to donors and prospects. Work collaboratively with the Marketing Coordinator to develop compelling materials for fundraising campaigns. Collaborate with the CEO, CHRO, Senior Management Team, Board President, Board of Directors, and Davis Street Foundation to build and empower the Board’s capacity in fundraising. Report and monitor progress and share fundraising results with the CEO and the Board of Directors. Work with the CEO and senior staff to develop budgets, monitor, and forecast revenue and expenses, and drive financial results. Personally solicit gifts and collaborate with the CEO in solicitation efforts. Staff the Fundraising Committee of the Board. Oversee donor and prospect management systems. Provide regular fundraising training to board members and the Board Fundraising Committee. Create and implement a planned giving program, including marketing and solicitation of planned gifts and blended gifts. Generate new ideas that increase revenue and donor longevity. Oversee all aspects of the Annual Giving campaign, including direct mail and online giving campaigns. Solicit gifts/sponsorships for the Annual Gala. Develop a pipeline of donor prospects for the Annual Giving campaign to be adhered to by the development team. Achieve monthly goals for prospect and donor visits and prepare visit reports and follow-up correspondence. Engage in regular database use and management to record moves management, activities, and donor information. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

5+ years of progressively challenging fundraising experience, with experience and understanding of all general fundraising methods (direct mail, major gifts, and events in particular)

required . Experience in developing a culture of philanthropy in a medium to large-sized nonprofit

preferred . Experience in CRM systems like Salesforce, RE7, RE NXT, and/or Blackbaud

preferred . Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building abilities with a collaborative approach to working with co-workers, volunteers, and donors. Ability to maintain a high level of donor confidentiality and respond to donor issues with tact, diplomacy, and poise. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent computer proficiency skills including word processing and internet utilization.
