About the Position

The Miriam Hospital, part of Brown University Health, is seeking a dedicated Radiology Technologist to join our team. Under the supervision of the Medical Imaging Manager, you will perform a variety of technical radiographic procedures, applying ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. You will work with adult and geriatric patients, adapting care to meet their physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs. Additionally, you will assist physicians, manage patient scheduling, maintain equipment, and ensure proper documentation in the Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and PACS.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Greeting and explaining radiologic exams to patients, reducing apprehension and ensuring their comfort.
  • Scheduling radiologic exams to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Performing diagnostic procedures, ensuring correct anatomical positioning and utilizing technical expertise to produce optimal results.
  • Processing and scanning radiographic images to the PACS system for physician review.
  • Operating fixed and portable radiographic equipment, both in the Radiology Department and on nursing units.
  • Assisting physicians in administering contrast media and ensuring patient safety during procedures.
  • Maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and adequate supplies in the work area, rotating shifts as required (including weekends and holidays).
  • Participating in training and instruction of staff and radiologic technology students.

Requirements
  • Completion of formal training in an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current license to practice in the State of Rhode Island.
  • ARRT certification required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient care across all life stages, with an understanding of cultural and developmental considerations.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role involves working in a healthcare environment with direct patient contact. You will be exposed to radiation, but hazards are minimized by adherence to safety protocols. The role requires intermittent walking and standing, as well as lifting patients and supplies (up to 50 pounds). You may also be exposed to electrical and energy hazards.
