About the Position

Brown Health Medical Group is seeking a skilled Radiology Tech to join our Urgent Care Center in Johnston. Under the direction of the Urgent Care Practice Manager and indirectly under the TMH Manager of Medical Imaging, you will perform a variety of technical radiographic procedures, applying ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. You will also assist with clerical duties, EKG, and phlebotomy functions. This role involves working with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, ensuring care that meets their physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs. You will play a key role in fostering a patient and family-centered care environment, in alignment with Brown University Health’s mission, vision, and values.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Following workflow protocols to maximize quality and efficiency.
  • Upholding patient privacy and confidentiality standards.
  • Providing clear explanations of radiologic procedures, EKGs, and phlebotomy tests to patients.
  • Managing patient registration, checkout, and scheduling of radiologic exams.
  • Performing radiographic exams with expertise in equipment usage, anatomical positioning, and technical factors.
  • Transferring images to the PACS for physician review.
  • Conducting quality control procedures and reporting any equipment issues.
  • Performing EKGs, ensuring accurate and properly labeled results.
  • Maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and supply levels within the department.
  • Flexibility to provide weekend and holiday coverage as required.

Requirements
  • Completion of formal training from an AMA-approved accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent.
  • Current State of Rhode Island license to practice as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • ARRT certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to care for patients across the lifespan, understanding aging processes, human development stages, and cultural sensitivities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
 


Physical Requirements:
The position requires standing and walking intermittently throughout the day. You may be required to lift and position patients or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The work environment includes potential exposure to electrical and energy hazards, with precautions in place to ensure safety.
