We're searching for an Accounting Supervisor to join our Accounting Controllership Services team. This position is responsible for advanced financial and accounting services and proficiency in a variety of accounting software for the Firm's business and non-profit clients. Responsibilities include preparing complex financial statements, preparing payroll tax and sales tax returns, preparing and adjusting journal entries, supervising accounting staff, and solving complex accounting problems.

What you will do in this role:
  • Apply appropriate accounting principles during the performance of ACS engagements and assignments to ensure accurate and reliable data and client satisfaction.
  • Create and manage effective interpersonal relationships, including assisting in the supervision, utilization, and training of Accounting Clerks, Associate, and Senior Accountants.
  • Review work of Accounting Clerks, Associate and Senior Accountants.
  • Review information supplied to client; may meet with or call clients with questions.
  • Recognize, anticipate, and resolve accounting issues, and make recommendations.
  • Market firm services to existing and prospective clients.
  • Possess the technical knowledge sufficient to train and supervise entry-level accountants.
  • Meet productivity and efficiency standards (billable hours).
  • Perform research projects requiring minimal supervision.
  • Work on client matters while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Complete client recordkeeping responsibilities, including manual bank reconciliation, identifying and correcting errors, adjusting journal entries, and preparing month-end closing documents.
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions.
  • Assist Tax and Audit departments with compiling supporting documentation for financial statements.
  • Provide advanced internal and external software consulting for database set-up, troubleshooting, and client training.
  • Develop and present QuickBooks and/or other software training and promotional classes to clients.
  • Review, input, and analyze extensive amounts of data.
  • Prepare, supervise, and provide quality control for the preparation of sales tax and payroll tax returns.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations including punctuality and daily time accounting and entry.
  • Evaluate records for accuracy of account balances, postings, calculations, and other records pertaining to business or operating transactions.
  • Reconcile and note discrepancies.
  • Reconcile and identify differences in opening retained earnings from general ledger to prior year tax return, and prepare adjustments if necessary.
  • Understand and account for non-cash transactions for debt-financed property, understand time value (present value) of money, debt amortization schedules, and understand loan closing statements.
  • Review the work of Associate and Senior Accountants and provide appropriate feedback to encourage learning and growth.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of ACS-related in-house CPE training.

What you'll bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software systems, including QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Sage MAS 90, MIP, CCH Axcess, BILL, or ADP.
