Job Description

A leading metal fabrication and manufacturing company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to oversee daily operations, drive strategic growth, and ensure operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is an experienced executive with strong financial acumen, a strategic mindset, and a proven track record of leadership in manufacturing. Working cross-functionally, the new team member will drive operational excellence by managing key departments, fostering high-level business development, and aligning operations with the company’s long-term vision while maintaining a focus on innovation, quality, and profitability.


Salary + Additional Benefits:

Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Leadership
    • Oversee all day-to-day operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall business strategy set by the CEO.
    • Oversee product quality and service; develop and implement new standards, policies, and procedures to continually improve sales, product quality, service, and profitability.
    • Maintain a close working relationship with the CEO via regular touchpoints and notify of any significant business impacts.
    • Play an active role in meeting with key relationships, including customers, vendors, partners, internal stakeholders, and more.
  • Business Development & Sales Management
    • Give pricing input as needed and drive overall strategy for sales; have a pulse on the competition as it relates to procedures, processes, and pricing.
    • Drive growth through expanding existing market share and develop new opportunities as able while increasing net income through a variety of measures.
    • Play an active role in sales by participating in ride-alongs as needed, partaking in ongoing communication with clients, and presenting to small and large groups about WMP and its products.
    • Oversee sales efforts including outside sales, estimating, drafting, order entry, customer correspondence, ensuring proper procedures and expectations are followed.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and key partners.
    • Understand the target markets, their needs, pain points, and goals, and regularly review customer personas.
    • Understand the current industry landscape, including competition in the industry and positioning, as well as current and future trends.
  • Production & Quality Oversight & Management
    • Oversee fabrication as it relates to WMP’s product scope and capabilities.
    • Provide operational oversight, understanding how to minimize bottlenecks and improve production capacity and workflow efficiency.
    • Evaluate current and future personnel and equipment needs.
    • Ensure quality is held to expected WMP and client standards.
  • Financial Management
    • Accept full responsibility for the profit and loss of the business.
    • Create reports in software tools currently used by the company including Microsoft, and E2.
    • Provide overall accurate analysis of budgets, reports, and financial trends, and operational procedures.
    • Ensure individual departments remain within budgetary constraints.
    • Identify opportunities to cut costs and promote operational and purchasing efficiencies.
  • Administration
    • Meets objectives defined by the CEO on an annual basis.
    • Review financial and non-financial reports for analysis and to devise improvements.
    • Coordinate legal documentation as needed, always with the utmost adherence to confidentiality.
    • Develop, oversee, and implement reporting for sales, shop productivity, and office needs including time reporting, quoting and ordering reporting, time utilization and more; drive changes and results as needed using E2, Microsoft and other tools as needed.
  • Talent Management
    • Ensure the company is appropriately staffed with well-trained, quality, and engaged employees at all times; making recommendations as needed and ensuring training and ongoing supervision needs are being met.
    • Collaborate with fellow leaders to develop effective hiring, training, and compensation plans to attract and retain quality talent.
    • Lead, mentor, and provide resources to staff to empower them in their roles.
    • Provide direct supervision to management personnel, including reviewing performance, providing regular feedback, and holding personnel accountable to company policies and procedures.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required, MBA preferred but other Master’s degree a plus
  • 10-15+ years in a Fabrication setting
  • Strong leadership ability
