What you will do
Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes. Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, parts, and fabrication processes, as well as tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Confer with planning, production and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Responsible for supporting the current manufacturing and facilitating the continuous improvement processes associated with the manufacturing methods and processes in the plant facility. Also develops solutions for production problems related to materials, processes, and tooling. Supports new products and programs by developing new processes, designing tooling and machinery, and developing production controls. Responsible for set-up of new equipment, ensures proper operation of the new equipment, and to teach others the proper use of this equipment. Accountable for applying sound economic methods to equipment and space utilization to meet design and quality criteria with the lowest expense and consistent with the facilities financial and non-financial objectives.
How you will do it
* Reviews specifications and bid proposals and cost estimate requests to establish the feasibility of accepting orders. Determines manufacturability, investment requirements, product cost and delivery schedules.
* Develops processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new products and programs; supervises their assembly and proofing.
* Supports production to resolve any manufacturing issues.
* Monitors continuous improvement with regards to scrap reduction and uptime optimization.
* Coordinates new product development and cost reduction activities.
* Manages capital equipment planning and procurement activities. Plans, supervises and executes work measurement, and defines operations and operation balance to TAKT time.
* Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots manufacturing support software.
* Plans, justifies and implements facility changes to produce the forecasted volume of product economically.
* Provides technical assistance to the plant including Materials, Quality Control, Engineering, and Safety.
* Supports Lean Manufacturing and Flow Manufacturing.
* Supports and leads 5S activities.
* Participates in and leads Kaizen events.
* Responsible for Labor Routings, Capacity Planning, TPM, and Cost Estimating. Responsible for Capital justification, CNC/Programming, Tool Design and Selection.

Required
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, 1-3+ years of industry experience.
* Hands on manufacturing engineering experience
* Knowledge of Formal problem-solving methods along with experience with financial controls and product cost savings
* Previous experience with new products and process introductions along with a working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and procedures is also required
* Excellent verbal and written communication and analytical skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills needed to influence personnel at all levels of the plant
* Strong leadership and training skills
* Mental processes oriented to logic, analysis and vision.
* Structured and systematic.
* Capable of presenting information to the public, in forums, conferences and visits.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.
* Working Conditions: Position requires flexibility in hours to work shift hours to coincide with team meetings as necessary, work in plant environment, with potential for some travel.
