Job Description Job Title: Pediatric ICU Clinical Nurse
Job Specialty: PICU
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3x12 + 4th shift required per month + every other weekend)
Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in PICU in a hospital setting; 1 year of pediatric ICU/Critical Care experience
License: Licensed as a Registered Nurse with current registration in New York State
Certifications: BLS, PALS
Must-Have: - Relevant clinical competence in critical care pediatrics - Pediatric experience
Job Description:
- Provide safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research, incorporating the tenets of Relationship-Centered Care. - Assess and evaluate patient care needs applying critical thinking skills. - Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. - Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning for after hospital care. - Educate patients and caregivers on the plan of care, health promotion, and disease prevention. - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and all members of the interdisciplinary team. - Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing. - Role model the tenets of Relationship-Centered Care including Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, and more. - Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families. - Use evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care. - Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care. - Implement process improvement strategies. - Collaborate with teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and nursing research studies. - Participate in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes. - Utilize institutional information technology for documentation.
Skills: - Effective team communication and problem-solving abilities - Ability to assess patient status visually, physically, auditorily, and cognitively - Manual dexterity for clinical procedures like venipuncture and urinary catheterization - Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems for documentation
