JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team in an elementary school setting. The SLP will provide speech and language therapy services to students of the elementary grade levels, helping them overcome communication challenges and improve their academic, social, and emotional development. This role requires a strong understanding of child development, language disorders, and individualized treatment plans to support diverse learning needs. Speech-Language Pathologist Needed in Oregon: In-person openings in Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. Location: Troutdale, OR Contract through the 2024/2025 school year – 37.5 to 40 hours per week depending on school/district. Contract follows the academic district calendar. Speech Language Pathologist / SLP Pay: $60/hr - $65/hr. Contract signing and completion bonuses available. Travel contracts available for non-local applicants! Speech Language Pathologist / SLP Position Details: Identify students needing specialized speech or language services, instruction, curriculum, activities, and classes and support them with solutions that enable them to thrive in a learning environment and achieve academic goals. Facilitate individual and/or group therapy activities using curriculum-based materials and content and provide progress reports and documentation as needed. Supervise support staff as needed and consult with fellow educators regarding accommodations, needs, instructional strategies, necessary equipment, and support. Provide augmentative and alternative communication systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language disorders. Create a classroom and learning environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students, and allows them to perform at their very best. Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for primary school success! Explore individual needs and give side-by-side support to discover how each student best learns and develop personalized solutions to each student’s learning style and abilities. Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives. Speech Language Pathologist / SLP Qualifications: Master’s degree in Speech Pathology, Speech Audiology, Communications Disorders, or similar program. National and state certifications: ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence, State Speech Language Pathologist Certificate, and State License from the Department of Health Services. Positive, energetic, and compassionate approach to education. Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting a plus. Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; may include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.
