Description: Under direct supervision of the Assistant Director/Office Administrator, the Program Student Advisor provides a wide variety of administrative and student counseling support to the department and student affairs office in particular. Some supervision of student employees may be expected.
Duties and Responsibilities: Provide counseling/advice and information to current and potential students about department programs and the requirements, ensuring their success and fostering student retention. Assist in the update and maintenance of student records and archival. Oversee the reception area and perform administrative tasks as assigned. Organize, update and maintain student and administrative calendars, student records, student forms, student databases, LISTSERV, promotional materials, and others related to special projects. Check department student web pages for up-to-date content and advise on changes. Filter student correspondence and answer or refer to the appropriate staff/office for further review. Assist with planning and operation of student recruitment and retention events. Assist in the preparation of TA applications for hiring and placement. Verify completion of hiring and new hire of TAs. Work with students and instructors to ensure timely and accurate submission of undergraduate time sheets. Complete other special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required: Bachelor's Degree *Bachelor's degree, additional education, training and/or work experience in a distinct academic discipline or area of specialization may be designated by the Employer.
