Job Title: Principal Engineer - Switchyard (High Voltage Substation Expert) Location: Remote Estimated Duration: 12 Months About Our Client: Our client is a Fortune 200 energy company leading the clean energy transformation. Position Overview: We're seeking an experienced Principal Engineer specializing in switchyard design and engineering to join a dynamic Engineering & Construction Business Unit. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead complex substation projects from conception through commissioning. Key Responsibilities: Lead switchyard projects from early-stage development through construction and commissioning Provide technical oversight and training for external engineers of record (EOR) Coordinate with stakeholders and transmission owners on switchyard development Manage material procurement and vendor relationships Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEEE, NESC, ASCE) Support project commissioning activities and regulatory requirements Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering 7+ years of experience in High Voltage substation/switchyard design Strong project management capabilities Excellent communication and leadership skills Experience with utility-scale power projects Preferred Qualifications: PE license or PMP certification Experience with renewable energy integration Knowledge of ISO requirements and interconnection processes Benefits: Competitive hourly rate (Up to $75/hr DOE) Remote work flexibility Professional development opportunities Opportunity to work on cutting-edge energy projects
